Cross Timbers Nature Club

Cross Timbers Nature Club is an after-school group for young naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts. We meet once a month from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve (BJNCP) to explore the trails, study local wildlife, and learn how we can become stewards of the land. Join us for an afternoon of hiking, investigating, friendships, and more!

Haunted Family Campout

10/22/22 8:30am-10:00am

Get your tents, sleeping bags, and sense of adventure ready, because ghosts, goblins, and goodies are lurking in the woods of the Bob Jones Nature Center for our Haunted Family Campout! Whether you and your family are new to camping or simply need another reason to sleep under the stars, the Haunted Family Campout is a great way to get outdoors and reconnect with nature.

Campout activities include morning and evening hikes that help you learn more about our local wildlife, a scavenger hunt, story time, games, and much more! Our Halloween-themed fun is suitable for campers of all-ages. Come in costume (a costume you’re willing to get dirty!) and bring spooky decorations for your campsite! Dinner, breakfast, and snacks are provided.

Registration is for 1 campsite (20x20) space. 6 participants are allowed per campsite. If your family/group needs more than this, please reserve an additional campsite.

Bird Walk

11/12/22 8:30am-10:00am

Join local naturalist, Charley Amos, for a morning hike of the Preserve trails! Charley will focus on the birds who can be found throughout the BJNCP trails.

Please bring a water bottle, come dressed for the weather, and wear shoes that are suitable for uneven terrain (that can get muddy). Binoculars are a great way to enhance this class, but are not required. This class is best suited for ages 13 and up.
