Cross Timbers Nature Club

Cross Timbers Nature Club is an after-school group for young naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts. We meet once a month from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve (BJNCP) to explore the trails, study local wildlife, and learn how we can become stewards of the land. Join us for an afternoon of hiking, investigating, friendships, and more!

Community Programs

Family Campout

Spring Family Campout  |  April 27-28

Get your tents, sleeping bags, and sense of adventure ready, because it's time for the Spring Family Campout at Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve! Whether you and your family are new to camping or simply need another reason to sleep under the stars, the Spring Family Campout is a great way to get outdoors and reconnect with nature. Campout activities include a group night hike to help you learn more about our local wildlife, crafts, games, and much more! Dinner, breakfast, and snacks are provided. 

Registration is for 1 campsite (20x20) space. 6 participants are allowed per campsite. If your family/group needs more than this, please reserve an additional campsite.

Parent and Me Play Day 

Join us for a morning (9:30am - 11:00am) of exploring, learning, and play at Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve! BJNCP is a fantastic place for outdoor enthusiasts and beginners alike. Our day will start with a hands-on lesson about nature and a short story-time to get us ready for our hike. Activities are for parents/guardians and children to enjoy together. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Registration is required for all children. Accompanying adults are included in the child's registration fee.

Earth Day at BJNCP!  |  April 20 9:00am - 2:00pm

Celebrate Earth Day with us!

Join us for a day of nature themed activities, guided hikes, exploration, and more! All activities are free and will be available in and around the Nature Center. Registration is required for guided hikes (free) to guarantee your spot. Happy Earth Day!

Adult Guided Hike – 9:30am (free, registration required)

Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve (BJNCP) is proud to offer programs for participants of all ages! All BJNCP programs are intended to connect participants to the local ecosystem through hands-on, interactive experiences. 

The Nature Center building is open during scheduled public program hours. Trails are open every day from 7:00am - 8:00pm and 7:00am - 5:00pm (winter hours). When visiting please pack water and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather. We proudly practice Leave No Trace Principals and ask that all guests are respectful to the plants and animals who call BJNCP home. Happy hiking!
