  1. The Great Backyard Bird Count

    February 16, 2018 - February 19, 2018 @ Bob Jones Nature Center

    On February 17, we will host a bird-themed hike that will help you identify our local wintering birds. The GBBC is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society with Canadian partner, Bird Studies Canada. The focus is to help scientists paint a better picture of the bird population by tallying up our local bird populations. We will provide binoculars and local bird checklists and instruction sheets. Anyone with an Internet connection, anywhere in the world, can take part, even through a mobile device. All ages and skill levels are very welcome– if you can identify a single species of bird we want to hear from you. For more info go to

  1. Spring Basketball League (Ages 8-18) (TEAMS ONLY) Registration Closes: March 23

    February 19, 2018, All Day @ CISD Facilities

    Register as a team and complete against other formed teams in this more competitive recreational league. Coaches in this league are given more freedom to manage their teams with no minimum playing rules. All teams will play a 6-games season and top 4 teams will advance to the playoffs. Teams must provide their own coach and uniform. Please register under head coach's name.

  2. Spring Girls Volleyball League - (Ages 6-12) Registration closes: February 23

    February 19, 2018, All Day @ CISD Facilities

    Join the City of Southlake in this recreational youth volleyball league. Jerseys will be provided and a set rotation will be utilized to ensure all players receive equal playing time. Every effort will be made to honor coaching and player request, but requests are not guaranteed.

  3. Day Break Camp Mania (Ages 5-11)

    February 19, 2018, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Southlake Activity Center

    Join us on your day off from school for a fun field trip with Day Break Camp Mania! Participants will spend the entire day off-site at one of DFW's coolest field trip locations. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Participants must be currently enrolled in Kindergarten, in a public or private school equivalent. Before and after care will not be provided.

  4. Basketball Skills Academy: (Ages 5-7)

    February 19, 2018, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ CISD Admin

    Ball handling, passing and an introduction to shooting basics are taught in this fun training class. This is a skill based program that uses drills and games to teach players more about the team sport. Our goal is to excite young players about the game of basketball.

  5. Kids Yoga and Mindfullness (Ages 5-12)

    February 19, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Southlake Activity Center

    Mindfulness for kids offers fun, engaging, and evidence-based practices to teach children how to calm their bodies and minds. Mindfulness will be taught through a variety of modalities including breath, yoga, art and music. Yoga and guided breathing practices will be included in every class. Children will be encouraged to explore their emotions and how to "respond vs. react" to difficult emotions. Children are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

  6. Ballroom Dance (Ages 18+)

    February 19, 2018, 6:30 PM - 7:25 PM @ Southlake Activity Center

    Learn the fun, fast and easy way to dance with a partner. Waltz, Rumba and Swing are a few of the dances students will learn during this class. The class uses a volunteer rotation, so no partners are needed (changing partners is optional). Instructor: C. Dorber

  7. Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 5-17)

    This Jiu-Jitsu program focuses on teaching children from ages 5-17 years old. The goal is to teach children: respect, honor, commitment, self control, physical fitness, coordination, compassion, positive attitude and most importantly self confidence. We are a life skills school that emphasizes on key values that will help students enhance their mental toughness to stand for what they believe in and the above goals. Through these values, we create a positive attitude of "Yes I Can!"
